Principles of Integrated Engineering (PIE):
For our final project, I served as the mechanical engineer, handling various aspects of the drone's design and function. My primary responsibilities included designing the aluminum frame, which was prototyped in acrylic using a laser cutter and later manufactured with a water jet. I also worked on the electronics housing, motor control, and safety features.
The drone was designed to be controlled by hand, using a glove equipped with an angular velocity sensor for directional control and a flex sensor on the finger to manage throttle. Unfortunately, the night before the final presentation, the drone's electronics were damaged. As a backup, we quickly adapted the project into a remote control car version to meet the deadline.
